FromSoftware Boss Comments on Potential for Bloodborne PC Port

 (Toc)

1. Introduction

Bloodborne, a famous action RPG from FromSoftware, has been a favorite among gamers since its release as a PlayStation 4 exclusive in 2015. Despite its popularity, with over seven million copies sold by the end of 2022, there has been no PC version. Recent comments by FromSoftware's boss, Hidetaka Miyazaki, have reignited hopes for a possible PC release.

2. Game Ownership and Development

Bloodborne was released only for the PS4, developed by FromSoftware and co-developed with Japan Studio, a part of Sony Computer Entertainment. Sony owns the game's source code, which is a big reason why it hasn't been ported to other platforms. This control by Sony makes it different from other FromSoftware games, like Elden Ring, which have been released on multiple platforms thanks to Bandai Namco's more flexible approach.

3. Miyazaki's Comments and Sony's Control

In a recent interview with PCGamer, Hidetaka Miyazaki was asked if Bloodborne might come to PC. He said he was "not opposed" to the idea but stressed that he doesn't have the authority to make it happen. Miyazaki humorously added, "If I say I want one, I'll get in trouble." This highlights that the decision is ultimately up to Sony, which owns the publishing rights to Bloodborne.

4. Fans' Desire for More Bloodborne

Gamers have been eagerly asking for more Bloodborne content, including a PC port, a PS5 version, and even a sequel. While FromSoftware fans may direct their requests to the company, it might be more effective to appeal to Sony. Recently, Sony reversed a decision about linking PSN accounts for PC players of Helldivers 2 after fan pressure, showing that Sony can be influenced.

5. Sony's Possible Plans for Bloodborne

There's no guarantee that Sony will bring Bloodborne to PC or make any new versions. However, the game's fanbase remains hopeful and dedicated. Recently, a Yharnam Hunter outfit from Bloodborne was offered as pre-order DLC for Astro Bot, indicating that Sony hasn't forgotten about the game.

6. Conclusion

Bloodborne remains a beloved game with a strong following. While the possibility of a PC port is uncertain and largely depends on Sony, the dedicated fanbase continues to push for more content. For now, fans can only hope that Sony will eventually bring Bloodborne to new platforms
